Aspen welcomes new inland marine – head of product & underwriting

He will be based in Chicago

Aspen Insurance Holdings Limited has announced the appointment of Michael Tate as inland marine – head of product & underwriting.

“We are thrilled to welcome Mike to our team, bringing more than 18 years of invaluable experience that will undoubtedly enhance our inland services and elevate the client experience to new heights,” said Josh Jennings, SVP, head of inland marine and property programs.

Who is Michael Tate?

Tate previously served as chief underwriting officer at Berkley Fire & Marine before joining Aspen. Prior to that, he took up a variety of executive level roles at the Hartford Insurance Co. such as chief underwriting officer – marine, head of underwriting practices – marine & construction, and division marine manager, with his most recent position being head of marine.

In his new role, Tate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and executing insurance solutions in relation to the firm’s US inland marine business. He will also be engaging with brokers when it comes to their needs for risk management and digital underwriting, while also collaborating with Aspen’s first party lines of coverage.

Tate will report to Jennings and will be based in Chicago, with his appointment having taken effect on Dec 18.
