Gallagher Re has announced the appointment of Richard Sammons as the new head of aerospace for its UK business, effective January 2024.
Sammons, with a background spanning 25 years in broking and underwriting, transitions from his role as head of specialty at Hamilton Re in Bermuda, a position he held for a decade.
The move also sees Mark Hudson, the former head of aerospace, transition to the position of chairman of aerospace within Gallagher Re. Hudson’s new role will involve supporting Sammons in managing the team, driving growth, and maintaining client relations.
“We are delighted that Richard has agreed to join us as we continue to build out the strength and depth of talent that we have in the UK business. With more than 25 years of industry experience Richard brings outstanding leadership skills, coupled with a deep understanding of the aerospace industry that will enable him to further build on our existing success,” Gallagher Re UK CEO Ian Kerton said.
Elsewhere, the global reinsurance broker also recently announced the promotion of Mark Hansen to chief operating officer.
