Program managers unite to launch specialty MGU

MGU will provide coverage for a host of segments

Florida-based Gridiron Insurance Underwriters and Canada-headquartered Signature Risk Partners have announced the launch of Signature Specialty, a specialized managing general underwriter.

Signature Specialty will be the first MGU in the country to combine tailored coverage and insurance solutions for the craft beer, winery, and golf country club insurance segment, the companies said. Coverage is available for property, general liability, liquor liability, inland marine and excess liability nationwide.

The programs will allow insurance brokers to secure industry-specific, customized coverage from a single provider as Signature Craft & Distillery, Signature Golf and Signature Wine, the companies said. Coverage is offered on a non-admitted basis by Accelerant Specialty.

“By combining our underwriting expertise and market knowledge together with Signature’s immense experience in underwriting these three classes of business, we believe that we have created a very compelling offer that will provide exceptional coverage at competitive rates while creating placement efficiency for our broker partners,” said Dave DeMott, president of Gridiron.

“We have built considerable expertise underwriting these programs in Canada over the last 17 years and we are excited to finally have the right partner to help us bring these custom programs to the United States,” said James Grant, president and CEO of Signature.

Gridiron was recently named one of Insurance Business America’s 5-Star Program Administrators and Carriers.
