Chase Sapphire Reserve Revamp
Update (Jun 13, 2025) – Chase Sapphire has shared the designs of the revamped Sapphire Reserve card and the new Sapphire Reserve Business card. We also wrote earlier about a mystery $299 annual fee Chase Business card.
Update (Jun 11, 2025) – MEAB reports that based on a reliable source “the changes will be officially announced with details on June 17, and the program will switch on June 21 which gives you a few days to decide whether to exist under the old or the new program. Apparently significant parts the old program will be grandfathered for a significant amount of time for existing card holders.”
There’s also another piece of information that was shared on reddit, saying that the 1.5 cents per point redemption is going away. Instead it will be a base of 1 cent per point, unless there’s a promotion similar to this one. That’s in line with the rumored Points Boost Program that gives you points a value of 2 cents through promotions. The latest datapoint says that points earned before the cutoff date later this year, can still be redeemed for 1.5cpp until 2027. Those earned after the cutoff date will have a value of 1 cent per point for portal bookings, unless there’s one of those promotions that improves your value.
Update (Jun 10, 2025) – Chase has confirmed the new earning rates on the revamped Sapphire Reserve card. The details shown below were briefly shared on the Chase website at this link:
Update (Jun 09, 2025) – The ad shown above was spotted at Grand Central Terminal in NYC, hinting at a new card design and a launch slated for Summer 2025 (HT: r/creditcards). TPG also reports that the first-ever Sapphire Reserve for Business will be debuting too. Several images were also shared on Instagram by Chase Sapphire so the Business version could launch at the same time.
Update (May 19, 2025) – Some people are seeing this announcement referencing “The Shops at Chase” on the Chase Shopping website. This is one of the new benefits of the rumored $795 annual fee Chase Sapphire Reserve revamp, with a $250 The Shops credit after spending $75K/year. Makes the rumor even more credible.
The Chase Sapphire Reserve Card will soon be revamped with a higher annual fee and new benefits. The information comes from a reddit post that was then deleted, but it was also mentioned by a phone rep and reported from a different user. Plus there’s a screenshot of an internal communication about the changes.
So this seems like solid information, at least about the fee and the upcoming refresh which might happen this month. However, the deleted post also detailed all of the new benefits.

Guru’s Wrap-up
That’s a substantial increase for the annual fee on the Chase Sapphire Reserve Card. But based on the information that was shared, the card will also get lots of new credits. On the other 3X on all travel purchases is gone, and Chase Travel hotel and car rental bookings go from 10X to 8X.
While it’s a lot of value if you do maximize those new credits, that’s a long list to add to the many monthly and annual credits that comes with the credit cards I have in my wallet.
It’s not clear if we will see a big signup bonus when (if?) these changes go live. So you have to decide if you want to apply now with a measly 60K bonus and the lower fee, or wait for the changes to kick in and hope for a better bonus and $245 higher fee. You can also just go for the increased 100K bonus on the Chase Sapphire Preferred, and then upgrade to Sapphire Reserve later on if you really want those new benefits.
Excited about these changes? Let me know in the comments!
