Hilton Now Lets You Buy Points When Booking Online
Hilton has started offering members the option to purchase points at checkout, similar to what IHG does. The option to purchase points at check out is apparently available at select properties only, as reported by UpgradedPoints. These are properties that are already using the new cloud-based hotel Property Engagement Platform (“PEP”) that was introduced in 2023.
When selecting an eligible hotel, you can proceed to select your room and in the checkout page you will see one or more options to “Customize Your Stay”.
One of these option is “More Points”. You will have the option to purchase a fixed amount of points. There are two options:
- 5,000 Hilton Honors points for $25, OR
- 2,000 Hilton Honors points for $10
The pricing is fair at o.5 cents each. That’s the best deal that you can get when Hilton runs one of its frequent point sales.
This is what this option looks like at Hilton New York Times Square for example:

This new option to purchase Hilton points could be useful in some cases. If you need small amounts of points, then those Hilton sales will rarely get you a 0.5 cents per point price for buying 2,000 or 5,000 points only.
Maybe these purchases could also code as Hilton, if they are charged in the same transaction with your stay. That would earn you extra points with a Hilton credit card. Regular points purchases are through Points.com and don’t code as travel.
