Citi ThankYou Devaluing Transfers to Choice Privileges and I Prefer
Citi sent emails out Friday announcing upcoming changes to the ThankYou® Rewards Program. These changes affect two travel partners, Choice Privileges and I Prefer.
Effective 04/19/2026, the redemption value for points transferred from ThankYou Rewards will change.
- Current Redemption Value for Points Transfers:
- 1,000 ThankYou Rewards Points are transferable for 2,000 Choice Privileges® points
- 1,000 ThankYou Rewards Points are transferable for 4,000 I Prefer Points
- New Redemption Value for Points Transfers, effective 04/19:
- 1,000 ThankYou Rewards Points are transferable for 1,500 Choice Privileges® points
- 1,000 ThankYou Rewards Points are transferable for 2,000 I Prefer Points
You may redeem ThankYou Points at the current redemption values through 04/18. After that, the new redemption values will apply.
Choice Privileges and I Prefer are not as popular as other hotel programs. But they at current rates, they are good options for get value out of your ThankYou Points.
Now the transfer rate is getting cut in half for I Prefer and reduced by 25% for Choice Privileges.
