SmartSearch promotes Allen to COO role

Anti-money laundering firm SmartSearch has appointed Collette Allen as chief operating officer.

Allen joined the business almost a decade ago in 2013 as a senior support specialist and has also worked as head of client services.

She became the firm’s client services board director in 2018, making her, at 30, the youngest person to join the search platform’s board as well as its first woman.

The firm says under Allen its client services unit “grew significantly” and now manages 5,500 global clients across the legal, insurance, accountancy, investment, property and finance sectors.

It added that her promotion to chief operating officer is a result of her work boosting client retention levels and her overall contribution to the firm’s business strategy.

In her new role, Allen will oversee the platform’s operations and customer experience as well as help drive business growth. The post will see her “manage a diverse range of business operations”, the firm adds.

SmartSearch managing director Martin Cheek says: “Collette has shown incredible leadership and innovation in her time at SmartSearch. She’s been crucial in the development of our outstanding client Services team which has managed to achieve exceptional client retention.”

Allen adds: “Having been with SmartSearch for nearly a decade, it is a real honour to now be chief operating officer. The business is fast growing and it is an incredibly exciting time to be at SmartSearch.”
