CDC Adds 16 Destinations to “Level 4: Very High” Risk List

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has added 16 destinations to its maximum level of “very high” Covid-19 risk. The additions include popular destinations such as Greece, Ireland, U.S. Virgin Islands and Curaçao.

For destinations listed in the “Level 4: Very High Level of COVID-19” category, the CDC suggest to avoid travel altogether. It says that if you must travel to one of these place, make sure you are fully vaccinated. But even fully vaccinated travelers may be at risk for getting and spreading COVID-19 variants.

The following 16 destinations were upgraded to Level 4 on Monday:

  • Andorra
  • Curaçao
  • Gibraltar
  • Greece
  • Guadeloupe
  • Iran
  • Ireland
  • Isle of Man
  • Kazakhstan
  • Lesotho
  • Libya
  • Malta
  • Martinique
  • Saint Barthelemy
  • Saint Martin
  • US Virgin Islands

The CDC also recommends against international travel in general until you are fully vaccinated. “The COVID-19 situation, including the spread of new or concerning variants, differs from country to country,” the CDC says. “All travelers need to pay close attention to the conditions at their destination before traveling.”
