CDC Adds 7 More Destinations to “Level 4: Very High” Risk List
France and Iceland are among seven destinations added on Monday to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s highest risk category for travel. This is in addition to the 16 that were added just a week ago. The majority of these new additions are quite popular vacation spots for Americans.
For destinations listed in the “Level 4: Very High Level of COVID-19” category, the CDC suggest to avoid travel altogether. It says that if you must travel to one of these place, make sure you are fully vaccinated. But even fully vaccinated travelers may be at risk for getting and spreading COVID-19 variants.
The following seven destinations were upgraded to Level 4 on Monday:
- Aruba
- Eswatini (formerly Swaziland)
- France
- French Polynesia
- Iceland
- Israel
- Thailand
The CDC also recommends against international travel in general until you are fully vaccinated. “The COVID-19 situation, including the spread of new or concerning variants, differs from country to country,” the CDC says. “All travelers need to pay close attention to the conditions at their destination before traveling.”
