How to Get the Best Prime Day Deals (Amazon Prime Day 2023)

Amazon Prime Day 2023

Set your alarms, mark your calendars, clear your schedules! Amazon’s Prime Day is just around the corner!

Prime Day 2023 is July 11-12!

Here’s the skinny on Prime Day:

Prime Day starts at 12:00 am PDT on July 11 and goes through 11:59 pm PDT on July 12. We typically see some retailers drop prices the weekend before as well.

Prime Day is like Black Friday in July. It’s (typically) a two-day event when Amazon and independent Amazon sellers deeply discount thousands of items.

These deals are ONLY available to Prime members. You can get a FREE 30-day trial Prime membership HERE (you can cancel at any time before the 30 days is up).

There will be three types of deals running through Prime Day:

  • Deal of the Day Deals — These will be available the entire time (not Lightning Deals) but they may sell out. There will most likely be deals launched on Monday and then different ones on Tuesday.
  • Regular Discounts — These are items that have a deep discount that you can purchase at any time, though sellers may have limited quantities. We refer to these as “hidden deals” because they aren’t advertised on any official Amazon Prime Day page. This is why it’s super important that you join our FB group.
  • Lightning Deals — These are items that are on sale for a limited time with limited quantities. They will pop up at various times over the two-day sale period. Really good Lightning Deals will go fast, but get on the waitlist if you missed it. There’s a good chance you’ll be able to get the deal if someone else bails. The Lightning Deals will post on this Amazon page HERE.

What types of deals can you expect?

Honestly, everything under the sun. Deep discounts on Amazon’s devices (Amazon Glow, Halo Fitness Tracker, Fire tablets, Kindle e-readers, Echo, Echo dot, Fire Stick, Ring, etc.), kitchen, household, electronics (especially TVs), clothing, video games, laptops, groceries, household items, food, diapers, small appliances (kitchen, vacuums, etc).

In addition to all the deals, last year Amazon offered deep discounts on their digital services and products (you can cancel these memberships at any point during your trial period with no penalties), like Audible, Amazon Music Unlimited, Prime Video streaming channels.

Here are the promotions already running ahead of Prime Day that you can take advantage of right now:

Get 3 months of Audible Premium Plus for FREE (new customers only)

Get streaming channels (Starz, PBS Masterpiece, Noggin + tons more) for 99¢ per month

Get three months of Kindle Unlimited for FREE

Four Ways to Get the Best Prime Day Deals

1. SHOP FROM AN ACTUAL COMPUTER

I find shopping from my desktop or laptop computer to be far easier than my phone. I can move faster (which matters with Lightning Deals) and I can see suggested products easier (which is where I find so many discounts).

2. PAY ATTENTION TO THE SUBSCRIBE & SAVE DEALS

In the past we have STOCKED-UP on so many things in the grocery, personal care, and household supplies category and we expect this year to be no different.

If you’re new to Amazon’s Subscribe & Save program, read through our up-to-date tutorial on How Subscribe & Save Works here.

3. JOIN THE WAITLIST IF YOU MISS A LIGHTNING DEAL

You actually have 15 minutes to purchase a Lightning Deal once it’s added to your cart and a lot of people never end up buying that item. So if you see that a Lightning Deal item is “sold out” and you really want it, join the waitlist. There’s a chance that enough people will fail to purchase and you can get the deal.

4. CHOOSE “NO RUSH SHIPPING”

Unless you absolutely NEED that item in two-days, always select the “No Rush Shipping” option. Your item(s) will come in a week or two, but Amazon will give you a prize for waiting. It’s usually a $1-3 digital credit to use on renting or purchasing a show or movie video or music from Prime Video.

Here’s another secret reason you want to select “No Rush Shipping”: You now have a little time (usually 1-2 days) to cancel your order if you change your mind. Sometimes it’s hard to not get deal happy on Prime Day and if you select the Prime Two-Day Shipping option, that item goes into the system to get shipped really fast. But if you select “No Rush” you have time to cancel without penalty.

5. LET US HELP YOU

The deals during Prime Day are BONKERS but if you try to go it alone, you’ll miss out on most of them. This is because the promoted deals on the Prime Day page (Deal of the Day and Lightning Deals) represent a small fraction of deals available.

There are THOUSANDS of third-party sellers that deeply discount during Prime Day but don’t have a way of promoting them. Amazon also discounts more items than they could possibly list on their Prime Day pages. Most of the time, you only find these deals if you stumble upon them.

That’s why you need expert assistance.

Our Prime Day team are PROS at finding and sharing the very best deals. Our goal is to deliver the deals you want as quickly as possible. We do the work. All you have to do is buy.

We will share a list of curated deals on FrugalLivingNW.com throughout Prime Day, but we actually share everything we find in our special Prime Day Facebook Group. It’s totally free to join and it’s a super fun place to hang out throughout Prime Day.

This is the place where we will be posting deals we find in real time and the only place we’ll be posting Lightning Deals.

Join our special Prime Day Deals group on Facebook HERE.

Our team will post on the blog, but it will be a curated selection and not necessarily throughout the day.

Plus, we’re doing a BIG gear-up to Prime Day and will be doing fun giveaways as well as sharing any pre-Prime Day deals we find over the next couple of weeks, so make sure you join this FREE Facebook group NOW.
