Munich Re Specialty Insurance (MRSI) has announced the appointment of Insurance Business Hall of Famer Sabrina Hart (pictured above) as president and CEO, effective May 1.
Hart has served as the company’s interim CEO since January, when former CEO Michael Kerner was appointed to the Munich Re Board of Management, Global Specialty Insurance (GSI) division.
In her new role, Hart will report to Kerner. She will also serve as a member of the GSI executive leadership team.
“Sabrina’s extensive industry experience and strong underwriting acumen, coupled with her proven leadership ability and collaborative nature, make her uniquely qualified to guide MRSI moving forward,” Kerner said. “I have had the pleasure of working with Sabrina throughout her career and have tremendous confidence in her ability to lead the growth and development of our specialty P&C business within MRSI.”

Hart joined MRSI last year as president of excess and surplus lines. Prior to that, she spent 25 years with a global insurance carrier, the last seven of which she served as executive vice president for its Midwest region. Hart has also held senior leadership positions with several other carriers and brokers.
Hart was inducted into Insurance Business America’s Insurance Hall of Fame in 2020.
Earlier this month, MRSI announced an expansion of its excess and surplus lawyers professional liability product.
