Paradigm adds Scottish Building Society to panel

by administrator

Paradigm Mortgage Services has added the Scottish Building Society to its panel of lenders.

This will enable members in Scotland and the North of England to access the society’s range of residential, entrepreneur, guarantor, and professional mortgages for both purchasers and those remortgaging. Scottish BS also offers retirement interest-only mortgages as well as products for self-build and custom-build, plus holiday let products.

The mutual offer individualised underwriting options for more complex cases that can be difficult to place. This includes mortgages for borrowers with impaired credit. It will also consider ‘day one’ self-employed earnings for professionals with fluctuating income, including locum doctors and solicitor partners.

Across its entrepreneur range, it will lend on the basis of one-year’s accounts, or one year’s self-employed earnings. The society can also use net profit as a usable income. For those remortgaging to fund home improvements, the society will also use the projects ‘end value’ to calculate LTV.

Paradigm says this addition will offer particular support to its Scottish intermediaries, and area of focus, which as seen Paradigm recently appoint Sarah Blackwood to be its new senior relationship manager covering Scotland, Northern Ireland and the North East of England.

Paradigm Morgtgage Services director of mortgages Richard Howes says: “The Scottish mortgage and protection market is an increasingly important one for Paradigm, and we are pleased to be able to announce the addition of Scottish Building Society to our panel, in response to member feedback.

“It is active in a wide range of product and sector areas and its flexible approach to underwriting means it can look at individual circumstances rather than operating a tick-box approach.”

He says Paradigm will continue to work closely with member firms in Scotland to add value to their businesses across a wide range of areas, as well as identify new opportunities.

Scottish Building Society head of intermediaries Stephen Brown adds: “We value the strong connections we have with our intermediary partners. This is reflected in our recent 92.1% satisfaction score from brokers, placing us among the top lenders in the UK for broker service.”
