Witnesses Announced for Appraisal Bias Hearing

You’re invited to join the Appraisal Subcommittee (ASC) for its Public Hearing focused on the appraisal regulatory system. This event is the second public hearing in the ASC’s series of hearings related to the topic of appraisal bias.

This Hearing will explore the appraisal regulatory system focusing on appraisal standards, appraiser qualification criteria and barriers to entry into the profession, appraisal practice and State regulation. It is intended to better under the current challenges and explore opportunities to improve the appraisal profession, while combatting bias and promoting fair appraisals for all.

The following witnesses will share testimony during the Hearing:

  • Jonathan Miller, President and CEO, Miller Samuel Inc.
  • Michelle Czekalski Bradley, Certified General Appraiser, Chair of the Appraisal Standards Board (ASB)
  • Brad Swinney, Chief Appraiser, Farm Credit Bank of Texas, Chair of the Appraiser Qualifications Board (AQB)
  • Angela G. Jemmott, Bureau Chief, California Bureau of Real Estate Appraisers, representing the Association of Appraiser Regulatory Officials (AARO)
  • Morgan Williams, General Counsel, National Fair Housing Alliance

The Appraisal Subcommittee (ASC) provides federal oversight of State appraiser and appraisal management company (AMC) regulatory programs and a monitoring framework for the Appraisal Foundation.
