What is print on demand?
Print on demand, sometimes called POD, is where you can sell your own custom designs on different types of products.
Instead of ordering lots of items in various colours and sizes and holding on to stock (with a big financial outlay, these items are printed on demand from third-party providers.
The ‘on demand' bit means that when an item sells it triggers an order from your supplier, who take care of everything else for you.
In order to sell with print on demand you are going to need to partner with a company to create and dispatch your designs.
Printful
Printful are by far one of my favourite print on demand companies.
Creating products and intergrating them with my Etsy store has been an absolute dream and if you are just getting started I would highly recommend using Printful as your first port of call.
As well as making the whole process very simply, Printful offer you a free sign up and no minimum order quantities.
With their automatic integration with popular e-commerce platforms (like Etsy) you won't even need to do anything once an order has been placed. They will take care of everything, including letting your buyer know that the item has been dispatched.
At the moment they offer over 250 products, meaning that you can create anything and everything!
Another thing that I absolutely love about Printful is that as you are creating your products they will generate free mockups for you to use – automatically.
They have a varity to choose from, including a diverse range of people, flatlays and lifestyle shots.
This saves a ton of time when creating your listings. Before using Printful I would have to manually create my mockups which takes a lot of time.
I really love Printful for my print on demand products.
Printify
Printify is another one of the print on demand companies that I have explored.
What I really like about Printify is that you can actually choose your print partner by name.
This means you can explore options that are closer to you – like using providers from the UK to save on carbon emissions and postage costs from abroad. With over 300 products to choose from you won't be short of content for your store.
Printify integrates with a lot of e-commerce providers including:

- WooCommerce
- Wix

Print on demand companies – Redbubble
Redbubble seem to almost be a household name when it comes to creating print on demand products.
A great thing about Redbubble is that as well as providing print on demand services, they also act as a marketplace, so potential buyers can seek out your designs.
If you are short of time, or don't want to start an e-commerce store on another platform then Redbubble could be the perfect place for you to start.
Which of these Print on Demand companies should you use?
Honestly, I really like all 3.
I decided to go with Printful in the end because they were the most user-friendly for me and I love the free mockups that they provide me.
Using Printful helps me to create my listings quickly, without having to take time to create mockups. Printify and Redbubble are great alternatives too.
