The reinsurance division of Swiss Re will see a couple of changes at the top.
First off, the unit’s global head of casualty, Jason Richards (pictured), is taking on the role of country president and chief executive for the UK and Ireland from January 01 next year. He will be in charge of driving the UK and Ireland reinsurance portfolio’s profitable growth while also continuing to strengthen the reinsurer’s London market position.
A three-decade industry veteran, Richards came onboard Swiss Re when the company acquired GE Insurance Solutions in 2006. The promoted executive, who is credited for successfully improving the quality of the casualty portfolio, has held his current post since November 2017.
Meanwhile, succeeding Richards as global head of casualty is new recruit Julie Stephenson, who is making the switch from US insurer CNA where she is presently a senior vice president and middle market chief operating officer. Her credentials also include time spent at Chubb.
“I’m very pleased with the appointments announced today,” said Swiss Re’s reinsurance CEO Moses Ojeisekhoba. “Jason Richards will bring a wealth of experience and strong track record to lead the important UK & Ireland market. With Julie Stephenson, we’ve found an accomplished leader as global head of casualty with over 25 years of industry experience and profound knowledge in casualty underwriting.”
